UNBELIEVEABLE
SCRIPTURE: “And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.” Mark 6:6

Unbelievable: there are an untold number of things in this world that can be described by that word. Man’s inhumanity to man, as evidenced by all the wars we’ve had from the dawn of humanity, the depth and extensive nature of injustices visited upon many people groups here in America and across the globe—all under the banners of classism, racism, ageism, and a host of other “isms.” And, let’s not omit the exceedingly DEEP spiritual darkness—and in most cases, willful confusion about who God is and what He is like—that has enveloped the world since Adam and Eve favored the lie of God’s enemy over obeying their heavenly Father. Romans, chapter 1, clearly removes the robe of willful incredulity from the eyes of most human beings.
Yet, even our Savior God, in today’s verse, marveled at the lack of faith of those in Nazareth, his home town, despite His awesome displays of miraculous healings and unprecedented divine wisdom! Though this marveling was attributed to our Lord in His humanity, we—because of His indwelling Spirit and the absolute truth of His word—should never be shocked, moved, dismayed, perturbed, or disillusioned by ANYthing that we may observe happening in this world!
Even so, what should dictate our response to the incredible aspects of much that attends our earthly lives this side of eternity? I find myself increasingly identifying with the observation of the apostle Paul, who said in Acts 20:24, “..none of these things move me." You and I, like Paul—even as did Jesus our Lord—must resolve this new year and beyond to persevere in [and if God wills the same], finish our ministry, not counting our lives as dear to ourselves.
PRAYER: Dear Father, in light of Your incredible grace and tender mercies poured out upon us through Christ Jesus, please renew within us an earnest desire to persevere in the assignment(s) You’ve given to us, to bring You glory! Thank You, in Jesus’ awesome name—AMEN!

Thank You Lord for sharing through Sister Denise the emphasis on 'belief' as a new year and a new day are entered. Rightly stated, the gaze of our believing must needs continually be upon You, the Author and Finisher of our faith, to whom our daily praise and worship is heartily due. Bless You Jesus!
