RIDDLE ME THIS
SCRIPTURES: " Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word. 18 Open my eyes, that I may see Wondrous things from Your law. 19 I am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me. 20 My soul breaks with longing for Your judgments at all times." Psalm 119:17-20
“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:14-16, 20

What is boundless, too 'heavy' to be raised, utterly frightening to some yet enjoyed, embraced and carried by many?
What is the most misunderstood, yet most appreciated?
What offers the highest clarity, yet is the most controversial thing across generations?
What is the most applauded, though most reviled, and yet most underappreciated?
What is both the most memorable yet most ignored, the most eternally complete yet commonly mishandled?
What prompts the highest of displayed passions in the world, while at the same time is met
with widespread indifference?
What exists as both profoundly loved and remarkably hated at the same time?
What do you say about 'God's Word'?
Explicitly the messenger of Psalm 119, in agreement with what the messenger of Revelation 3 implicitly says, offers us all a high regard for God's Word as essential to the life of the believer. You could even say, as the entire Bible would state, that therein we are defined as His. We cannot be His without it. It is 'the power of God unto salvation'. His Word is key to having 'dat true religion'.
The wondrous things to be known of Him, requires Him, to be appreciated, that is to say we need God to "Open my eyes" as preface to "behold". We are naturally earthy, "a sojourner on the earth", and require Him to have a supernatural "longing" for His.
Upon such radical, even alien change only, can we begin to offer the expression of holy extremis, being "hot" or "cold" in the world. Only then can we become and bring the healing balm of Christ to a bruised world [or a harmed neighbor]. Only then can we bring the refreshing of the Lord to a dry and thirsty people [or a friend at risk]. Lukewarm, no matter how you sling it, won't do.
PRAYER: Lord-God deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your Word. In the name of Jesus, open the eyes of my heart! Persuade me deeply, holy Word. Stir as only You can, Spirit of Christ! May it be so, even today. Amen and Amen!
