Who is On the Throne of Your Heart?

SCRIPTURE: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:3-5
As we mature in Christ, our faith will be tested to prove whether it is genuine or not. Our worship also will be challenged regarding any “idolatry” of the heart – “Who is on the throne?” Pleasing God must be the ultimate attitude of our heart. (II Corinthians 5:9) This kind of attitude will bring about an assurance that no matter what is assigned to us by God, all things will work together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

According to I Peter 1:6-8, “In this you greatly rejoice though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love.” As I mature and experience my faith that has been tested though great trials, I learn to be extremely joyful because I have a living hope that is revealed in the love Jesus Christ has for me. The Scripture continues, “Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith – the salvation of your souls.” The result of Abraham’s faith challenge was the deliverance of Isaac and God’s glory.

The Lord loves to bless His people with good things. Psalm 84:11b says, “No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Yet, we fear giving back to Him what is rightfully His. He must be enthroned in our heart first and most. When we love Him and experience Him, we mature in our love relationship with Him. People and things then begin to take on a different perspective in our hearts. As the Lord tested Abraham to give up Isaac, we realize that He must test the things on the throne of our heart so that our “Isaac” can be given up and put in its rightful place. When we give these “idols” back to Him, we come to experience these as His blessings to enjoy. As you fall more in love with Jesus let Him fill you with those things that will glorify Him and last for eternity!!

PRAYER: You are the God of the heart, so You know my heart. Whatever it takes Lord for me to see my heart as You see it, please hold back nothing that will break my heart for what’s breaking Yours. May I call my sin what You call it, confess it, and accept Your forgiveness, cleansing, and restoration. I love You JESUS!!!
