the greatest gift of all

How do we possess and show the true love of Christ? There are days that we are mindful of it and there are days that we forget it. This week our devotionals will focus on, "Manifestations of the True Love of Christ." Nevertheless the mandate and the challenge still exist. Hide this Word in your heart and may our Devotional Team inspire you to apply God’s Word!
SCRIPTURE: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” John 13:34
SCRIPTURE: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.” I Corinthians 13:1-8
The Ladies’ Home Journal once stated: “Those who love deeply never grow old; they may die of old age, but they die young.” “Love” an action word that should include an inner attitude with a positive response. (I John 3:17) The Greek word agape most expresses Christlike, selfless love. Yes, Paul states that this unselfish, loyal, benevolent concern for another is truly the greatest gift of all (I Cor. 13:1-8). Christian love, which is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, is a virtue that should be continually maturing in our walk with Christ.

May we continue to be patient and slow to anger; kind and gentle to all; unselfish and giving; truthful and honest; hopeful, encouraging and enduring because when all else fails, love never fails. When the indwelling Holy Spirit controls rather than our feelings or unloving acts toward another then God gets the Glory and His strength is made perfect in our weakness. We can never out give God’s love that has soooo lavishly been bestowed upon us. God’s love is eternal and unconditional, and He will never stop loving us.

Prayer: Oh, what Love that the Father has bestowed upon me that I should be called “a child of God.” Hallelujah!!! Nothing can separate me from Your love and that is why eternity will have to be eternity because I will never cease to experience in full measure the “width and length and depth and height of Your LOVE!!!
