Sustained
Scripture: Ps. 55:22 NKJ - Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you….
In our world today, there are pressures on every side in this fast-paced journey. People seem to carry their burdensome past for many years, seemingly, without clues as to how to gain relief. Many say, “I’m fine.” Is that really what is true? From an external view, we see something else. Perhaps, you should turn away to a quieter place to refresh your mind and pray, as Jesus did on many occasions (Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35; Mark 6:46; Luke 5:16; Luke 6:12). Scripture mentions places where Jesus went to pray to His Father, as secluded, quiet, lonely and, solitary. Often Jesus took His disciples to a quiet, isolated place for rest (Mark 631-32). Scripture warns us of not practicing our righteousness before men, to be seen (Matt. 6:1).
When situations are burdensome and relief seems out of sight, there needs to be a consideration of Jesus’ model. It is here where we may experience being opened to His presence, power and wisdom. There we must cast all of our burdens onto Him. He can bear and carry our heavy load. He alone is able. Trust Him with your whole heart, stresses, or painful situations. Jesus will give you the rest you so desperately need. Come before His presence with thanksgiving.
I’ve heard of some deep past guilts of others. Past hurts range from unfiltered words spoken by parents, teachers, or a close friend. Individuals who lived recklessly in their young years often lead to failure and shame. Unresolved guilt and pain often result in suicide, attempts to hide from any appearance of their past, avoid family gatherings, class reunions or, funerals. These individuals build new relationships cautiously. They join many social groups and serve from the sideline. They seldom mention past relationships with joy for fear of revealing some deep burdensome shame and pain. Iniquity in man’s heart will hinder fellowship with God.
Consider your ways on this faith journey by: (1.) walking by faith (2.) seeking the Lord while He may be found, (3.) trusting and never doubt, (4.) seeking first the kingdom of God, (5.) seeking the Lord with all your heart, (6.) resort to praying without ceasing with thanksgiving, (7) forgive and repent of all unrighteous deeds. Allow the Lord to free you from the net of your pain and hurt. He can deliver and give you feet like deer’s hind feet. Place your burdens upon Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly, more than you could ask or think. He and Him alone can carry your burdens; he alone sustains.
Prayer: Lord, I agree with Your Word; there is a way that seems right to men yet leads to destruction. Jesus is able to see and know the beginning of time to the end of the ages. I place my trust in You and Your finished work on the cross for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
