Believe in the Light of Life

Scripture: I John 1:7 NKJ -  …if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

John wrote this letter (First John) with emphasis on truth and love.  He was indeed concerned with our fellowship and experiencing a closeness with the Lord. He penned; “God is light”(I John 1:5). John declared that there is no darkness in Him.   “The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19). Much activity goes on in dark places. When you shine a light in those dark places, you reveal what truly is there. Light exposes. As an individual walks in the light, he is enlightened by the Spirit of God so as to have a true sense of sin, to know Christ and the way of salvation by Him.

Beloved, when you were saved, God called you out of darkness into His marvelous light spiritually. We are children of light and children of the day ( I Thess. 5:5),  Therefore, we are to live as children of light (Eph. 5:8-13).  Be attentive to the way you live life (Eph. 5:15). There is no room for faking it because His light reveals who we really are.  Practice being honest with others, with one’s self and with God. When Christians try to live a lie among other Christians, just to look “spiritual”, they are merely lying to others and to themselves. Trying to look like a person walking in the light is lying to others and one’s self. That person is not practicing the truth. Truth is the absolute standard by which reality is measured, and love is the expression of that truth. Trouble comes when one starts to believe his own lies, deceiving himself. He does not stop there; Sin spreads and next he tries to make God a liar. That person has turned away from doing what is right— and thus turned from the Word. The truth is not in that individual (I John 1:8).  He turns truth into lies (I John 1:10).  When walking in darkness, one does not have  (1)  blessings from the Word   (2) fellowship with God ceases, (3) prayer life and worship experiences become dull and rote. There is a ruin character, among others. That individual  just does not tell lies but has become a confirmed liar. Light has no relationship with darkness. (2 Cor. 6:14).

God warns us (Prov. 28:13), that, “ he that covers his sins shall not prosper. King David tried to cover his sins committed with Bathsheba thus, causing her husband to meet his death in battle. Such a one can be restored to a right relationship/fellowship with the Lord. Our fellowship is determined by our walk. Confess your sins (I John 1:9). When an individual live fully exposed to the truth of God’s Word then, he can experience the ongoing cleansing work of the blood of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord God it is my desire to continue this journey following the light of life.  In Jesus’ name,  Amen.
