Broken to Be Beautiful

Scripture:  Psalm 51:17b “A broken and a contrite heart these, O God, You will not despise.”

The Japanese have an ingenious way of changing the color and appearance of birds and animals. For example, white sparrows are produced by selecting a pair of grayish birds and keeping them in a white cage, in a white room where they are attended by a person dressed in white. The mental effect on a series of generations of birds results in completely white birds. God, too, has an ingenious way of changing sinners into saints in His process of sanctification, and He specializes in BROKENNESS!

From the moment that we said “yes” to Jesus the process began. There was no survey sent out as to what trials we wanted to endure or not endure in this process, but just a new faith walk in a new relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Broken to think like Him, broken to talk like Him, broken to walk like Him, just broken to “BE” like Him. This process is a journey, it’s all new and only the Lord Jesus Christ has uniquely created the one mold – Jesus Christ – for each of us to be conformed to His beauty.

Yet there is our heart. (Jeremiah 17:9-10) says “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart; I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” Only Christ knows our hearts, and, therefore, only He knows what is necessary to be broken because it is breaking His heart. Jesus loves us tooooo much and He paid tooooo great a price to leave us as we are. Thank You, LORD!!

Prayer:  My Precious Jesus, You made me and only You know me. As You have numbered my days, please Lord let me be willing to say “break my heart for what breaks Yours,” and give me the strength to obey You.
