A.C.C.E.P.T. the Way of Peace (Part II)

SCRIPTURE: “Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us, the years in which we have seen evil.”  (Psalm 90:15)

As twice-born children of the Living God, we’re called to daily CONCEDE that our Savior really does know what’s BEST for us. (Jer. 10:23—“O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.” (The late gospel singer Dannie Bell Hall sang about this in her song “He Knows What’s Best for Me” back in the 90s).  Contrary to the “genie-of-the-lamp” concept of God, it is a sign of spiritual maturity to (E) EMBRACE the ENDURANCE of hardship as a true soldier of God.  It is a purely nonsensical notion that being a true Christian gives one a “golden key to the good life;” indeed, the biblically-supported historical reality has always been that following Christ unabashedly will more likely earn you a “target” on your back about as large as that depicted on the logo of a well-known retail chain!  All who will live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution (2 Tim. 3:12).

Any spiritual prescription about the pathway of peace would be incomplete without prioritizing (P) PRAYER—persistent prayer!  This is a practice with which God’s people should never grow weary!  It is undoubtedly the greatest privilege a child of the King has during this brief but trouble-ridden life.  “Lord, make us glad in proportion to the days in which we have seen evil.”  (Ps. 90:15) Finally, coursing throughout this prescription for peace is our need to TRUST, as is commanded in Proverbs 3:5, 6.  It is understandably the life Scripture of many saints.  Are you following the Great Physician’s prescription for walking in His pathways for peace?
PRAYER:  Dear ABBA, as Your called and chosen people, help us to remember the necessity of immersing ourselves in Your precious promises, that we may rest  continually in Your perfect peace that passes all understanding—even in the midst of the storms of life about which only You, the Alpha and Omega, know the occurrence and the duration.  In His name, Amen.
