Know and Do God’s Will

We are told to work out not for our salvation, because the Lord is the One who produces the good works and spiritual fruit in our lives. As we abide in Him and His words abide in us, the Holy Spirit works through us to will and to do. God then energizes our desires and actions. The “will” is not based on emotions, but the intent to fulfill a purpose. Therefore, we are enabled to do what satisfies Him.

Just as the Lord Jesus said, “not My will, but Thy will be done,” we too should mature in saying “not my will Lord, but Thy will be done.”  “To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge, to find the will of God is the greatest discovery, and to do the will of God is the greatest achievement.” (George W. Truett)
