Broken for His Glory

SCRIPTURE:  “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, these, O God, You will not despise.” Psalm 51:17
The Japanese have an ingenious way of changing the color and appearance of birds and animals. For example, white sparrows are produced by selecting a pair of grayish birds and keeping them in a white cage, in a white room where they are attended by a person dressed in white. The mental effect on a series of generations of birds results in completely white birds.

God, too, has an ingenious way of changing sinners into saints and He specializes in BROKENNESS! “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart; I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10)

Brokenness not only leads to salvation, but as the Potter begins the educational process of conforming us into His image, there will be “divine discipline.” Hebrews 12:11 says “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Divine discipline is evidence of God’s divine love. Oh, what “love the Father has bestowed on us that we should be called children of God.”  1 John 3:1

PRAYER: Break my heart Lord for what is breaking Yours. Make me so sensitive to You, Holy Spirit, in my brokenness that I will want Your will to be done and not mine. Your Glory and Praise!!!
