The Evidence of a Serious Christian

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:9-21 9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 11 Knowing, therefore, the terror of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are well known to God, and I also trust are well known in your consciences.

What am I doing with my saved life?
Is their proof that I’m serious about my walk with Christ?

My ambition should reflect my works through faith in unity
Revealing a Christian is a gift, privilege, honor, and opportunity

Examining the daily things, I seek to seize
Convicted by the Lord first, on whether He is well pleased

To whom much is given, much is required
I suppress my wants to delight in His desires

Everything I do, think, and say, revolves around accountability
Righteous motives and intent are behind my God-given abilities

How I see Christ will reveal the depth of my love
My deeds, services, and works will one day be judged

So, my daily concerns should thrive around meeting the Lord one day
Soon, I will be confronted on how much my life was done His way

Certainly, there will be heavenly rewards given and distributed
Receiving what we deserve based on what we consistently exhibited

The Lord should see a reverence and awe toward Him
There should be an upward attitude and adoration toward Him

We should have more of an appreciation for His love for us
It convicts, provokes, motivates, and fuels us

He should be the standard of our Christian lives
His love, work, and identity were given as a prize

However, a Christian can become content with the Lord’s provisions
His deity should convict and provoke a seriousness on how we’re living

This new redeemed life is Christ’s ministry through us
We are finishing what He started through the Lord we trust

Therefore, our lifestyles should be evidence that we represent God’s Son
Forever praising and extolling Him for what he is doing and done

Prayer: Lord, forgive us for often taking You for granted. We celebrate our saved lives, yet we often lack consistency and urgency towards our calling. If we consider, what’s a priority in our daily lives, many of us have missed the mark. In fact, the content of our prayers reflects the urgency in what we desire rather than being serious for Your desires. Thank You for Your mercy and patience. Continue to renew our minds and hearts. That we will have evidence of a serious Christian. We lift this prayer up in the name of Jesus, Amen!
