Oh, the WONDER OF JESUS

SCRIPTURE: “And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.” Luke 2:18
Have you ever observed a jaded or cynical individual and wondered when did they lose their sense of wonder? When did they lose the capacity to marvel at the beauties of the created world? A beautiful sunset or a sunrise, the sight of a bird of prey, like a hawk or an eagle gliding across an azure sky on a beautiful, chilly fall morning; these can all incite wonder, if we are open to reflect on these things. The vast beauties of nature created by the God of the universe pale, however, when compared to the overwhelmingly marvelous act that God accomplished when He prepared a body, as referenced in Hebrews 10:5-- that of His only begotten Son-- to be implanted into the womb of a lowly virgin named Mary! God became a Man! Oh, the unmatched WONDER!

When we read the Christmas story in the gospel of Luke, [Luke 1:26-2:21], it should stir up
deep and fresh wonder in our hearts that the Creator of the universe-- described by one writer as the “Designer of DNA” and the “Architect of all galaxies,” --- condescended to become one of us, just to rescue every believing soul from a horrible final destination, called the lake of fire; [see Revelation 20: 14, 15]. Marvel afresh over His incarnation and awesome work of redemption on Calvary’s cross! Don’t ever lose that wonder, dear reader! If Christ Jesus is your Lord, [as He is mine], you must praise Him for opening your spiritual eyes one day to believe the gospel that He came for YOU. Praise Him daily for drawing you and me to receive Christ Jesus into our heart, for never was there a greater GIFT given to any human being! The eternal facts of this glorious account never grow old. (Pray for the cynical ones in your life whose “eyes” have yet to be opened), and let your light of wonder at the marvelous King of kings and Lord of lords SHINE!

PRAYER: Dear Father, I rejoice in the words of a song from some years ago that poses the question: “Was anyone able to look at the stable and not see a child but a King; I wish I could hear back over the years heaven and nature sing---heaven and nature sing!” Nevertheless, I stand in ceaseless wonder! Thank You and Amen!
