When God Brings Judgement

SCRIPTURE: “The word of the Lord came again to me, saying: 13 ‘Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it.’ 23 ‘And they will comfort you, when you see their ways and their doings; and you shall know that I have done nothing without cause that I have done in it,’ says the Lord God.’” Ezekiel 14:12 -13, 23
I am in a Bible Reader’s team; and we are currently reading about when God sent His nation, Israel, into Babylonian captivity. We are absolutely blown away to read God’s fervent degree of judgement on His people. God’s language is startling to say the least. You are brought to your knees and compelled to regain understanding of God’s holiness and righteousness. His judgement is heart wrenching. God speaks through His prophets the words that prove His hurt by Israel’s rebellion and disregard of Him. God had done great and marvelous acts for His people, Israel, and they repaid Him with abominable worship and sacrifice to idols.

God describes Israel’s rebellion as harlotry. He declares to Israel, “Woe to you!” There are no better examples of indicatives and imperatives than in Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and even Lamentations. God initiates His warning of judgement with 'Repent'; then He ends His decree of judgements with words of hope and restoration. Where do you go when God turns His back on you? God does all of His acts in love and for a purpose. He wants His people to return to Him!!

God, throughout Scripture, gets His people’s attention with rock bottoms. He causes them to become crystal as to where their help comes from; and who should be the object of their allegiance. I was dialoguing with a sister recently and she stated directly that God wants to be believed. Our belief, trust, our faith will show up in our obedience to His Word.
The Almighty God of the universe wishes to have an ever growing and bonding relationship with those He loves!! Can you believe that, saints of God?! Let us put away all idols of the heart which cause us to stumble into all sorts of iniquity. Let us ever teach our sons and daughters of the Lord’s faithfulness towards us. Let us gain the Lord’s affections verses His wrath with the way we consistently bring Him worship, honor with great allegiance! Hallelujah!!

PRAYER: Lord, we honor You for Your great LOVE and sweet PATIENCE towards us. May we forever keep a short account with You in the way we call out our acts of sin against You and seek Your forgiveness. That we would forever remember how You are the Only One in whom we can depend; and there is none greater. And that You are the Only ONE who loves us and provides for our every need. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!!
