Their Deeds Do Follow Them

SCRIPTURE: "The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart; Merciful men are taken away, While no one considers that the righteous is taken away from evil." Isaiah 57:1, 2a
As I write this article, three gifted soldiers for Christ have exited this world; their faith having
become sight—young Charlie Kirk, just 31 years of age; stalwart defender and preacher of Christ’s gospel, Pastor John MacArthur; and on or about September 25th, the bold and gifted Pastor Voddie Baucham, age 56! Their deaths—while mourned by God’s redeemed ones, and perhaps largely unnoticed by many Christ-rejectors and others who oppose God’s truth—have deeply stirred my heart.

We live in times where biblical truth in many “churches” has been usurped by “feel-good” or “me-centered” messages that more or less dismiss as irrelevant the Word of God, while endorsing the “gospel of earthly riches,” or a “social justice gospel, rather than a “Christ-centered” one. Inasmuch as a growing spiritual apostasy appears to be more the rule than the exception at this time in history, one must be wary of simply urging your church-abandoning family and acquaintances to just ‘start attending church!’ for you do not know into what kind of setting you may have unintentionally steered them! They may not have yet learned to “test the spirits BY the Spirit,” as 1 John 4:1 warns! {The latter is especially true if they remain “in Adam” and have not the Spirit of Christ indwelling them). In such times as these, praise our Lord for courageous men like the forementioned three, as well as
those who serve faithfully and tirelessly at Genesis Bible Fellowship.

The often controversial and passionate presentations of the Judeo-Christian worldview presented by the above-named champions of the faith, will no doubt continue to have an unshakable influence for righteousness in this world. God’s purposes cannot be thwarted, says Job 42:2.

PRAYER: Dear Abba, we praise You that the unstoppable advancement of Christ’s purposes was not at all extinguished by Your servants’ departures from this world! We praise and thank You for the fruit of their obedience to Your call. May we likewise remain committed to courageously exalting Your Son in our respective generations. Thank You, in Christ’s name; AMEN!

The good we do is often buried with our bones.
