SUNDAY EVENING PRAYERS with Pastor Wayne Cockrell

SCRIPTURE: “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. 2 Oh, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. 3 Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever:” Psalm 136:1-3
Father, we thank You today for the 39 and ½ years of official pastoring. You have been gracious enabling me and blessing me in various ways, in sustaining me through some very dark and difficult days. So we give You all praise, all honor and we give You all glory.

June 1979, You saved my soul and it’s been that all the remaining of my adult life, serving You and thanking You for the great and wonderful things You have done. As I stand before these people, You know I talk to You in private about things, but certainly I can say to You before them, that I pray to You that I can be a better man, a better student of the Word, a better soldier that You can count on to stand in these fearful days. So, we yield ourselves asking that as we move forward to another year that You would help us. I am so burdened about the generation that we’re in, the children, so many of them are subjected to many kinds of situations. Satan is attacking them in the earliest years, through our school systems and through the environment of our communities, through the internet and all of that, Lord, an onslaught of the enemy seeking to influence those minds. We pray Your restraining hand more upon them, even though we read today that You will deal with every aspect of wickedness and evil that has infected Your world. And we ask that You would let us be a part in the time we have to be useful for Your glory and to bear much fruit for Your glory and in doing so being a part of Your Work as you bring men, women, boys and girls to the saving knowledge of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank You for these people, thank You for them, even those, Lord, throughout this 40 years, some have even risen up as enemies, but You have always had my back, and You have always sustained me, and You have always kept me. I have understood that was part of the call and You have indeed, have not spared me one bit, but You have shown Yourself and we thank You for that. Thank You for those who love me, I know that’s a tough Job, Lord. Thank You for touching their hearts and they obeying You and blessing me in some way, shape or form. Thank You so very much for all of them, in Jesus’ name, amen.
Pastor Wayne Cockrell.
