Trust the Lord

SCRIPTURE: “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” Psalm 20:7
Truly trusting God is harder than it seems. Believers are told in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust God with all our hearts and lean NOT on our own understanding. We should also acknowledge God in ALL of our ways and He will direct our path. Do you really trust God like that? Some trust chairs more than they trust God. They just plop down in a chair. They don’t check the weight limit or if the legs are stable. They just sit. This is the way the Lord should be trusted. Imagine, trusting God like that, we wouldn’t have any anxiety, or ulcers from worrying. Stepping out on faith would be a cake walk. However, the reality is when it comes to trusting God believers often falter.

When life gives out lemons some begin to second guess themselves and question God. Trust requires believers to be in a place of submission. Trust requires believers to be in a place of dependence. Trust requires faith beyond sight. The problem is, God always raises the ante. The “trust hat” will require more and more as we grow. And if we are honest, we can admit that we want the goods but don’t want to pay for them. Trust doesn’t work that way, it requires payment. And that payment is our faith, our hope, our praise, and our worship. We should be like children, they blindly trust damaged and imperfect parents. But as Christians we tend to struggle with trusting a perfect and faultless God. What would it take to blindly trust God? The Lord has proven over and over that He is faithful, that He is dependable, and that He is trustworthy; yet we still fail to trust Him, fully. Will you trust, Him? Do you trust, Him?

Imagine God saying:
I know that faith is easy when everything is going well,
But can you still believe in Me when your life’s a living hell?
And when all the things around you seem to quickly fade away,
There’s just one thing I really want to know,
Will you let go? (I’ll trust you, Lord)
Will you stand on My word? (I’ll trust You, Lord)
Against all odds will you believe what I have said? (I’ll trust you, Lord)
What seems impossible? (I’ll trust You, Lord) Will you believe? (I’ll trust You, Lord)
Every promise that I made will you receive? (Yes, I will trust You, Lord)
What if it hurts? (I’ll trust You, Lord) What if you cry? (I’ll trust You, Lord)
What if it doesn’t work out the first time that you try? (I’ll trust You, Lord)
What if you call My Name (I’ll trust You, Lord)
And you don’t feel me near? (I’ll trust You, Lord)
Will you believe in Me or will you fear?
Oh, My child? (Yes, I will trust, You Lord)
I’ll Trust You, Lord – Written by Donnie McClurkin

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for being a God of action. Lord, forgive us for doubting You even though we know we can rely upon and place our confidence in You. It is impossible to come boldly to the throne of grace without trusting You. Forgive our unfaithfulness despite Your faithfulness. Thank You, Father, for loving us despite our distrust and disbelief. Thank You for never going back on Your Word. And thank You for Your Son, Jesus Christ, who was faithful even to the cross. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
