Put Your Money where Your Mouth Is

SCRIPTURE:  “Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
I have no excuse. Since early in my life with Christ, I have been grounded with financial wisdom, at least from Peter and John Radio, where I was exposed to countless of God or Christian influencers. One of those influencers was the late Larry Burkett who was a radio personality who focused on finances from a biblical view. He highlighted and pointed to financial principles expressed in verses such as, 2 Corinthians 9:7, “...for God loves a cheerful giver...”; Proverbs 22:7, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.” There are so many other Bible verses providing financial guidance.

Today, I have two Christian financial counselors, Neil Gunther (with Heritage Financial in Timonium, MD) and Dave Ramsey. You may have heard of Dave. He is yet, another well-known radio and pod-cast Christian financial counselor. He rants, “in love” (he says), the necessity of being debt-free. He created a list of steps to follow to become a great steward of your God-given paycheck. The final step or the goal of being diligent (demonstrating carefulness and dedication in accomplishing a task) is ultimately to be at liberty to express abundant generosity. In the freedom to be generous, we can satisfy more of God’s purposes and bring Him even more pleasure. I shared with my family who expressed interest in other financial counselors: I choose to follow counselors who claim as I claim: to be Christians. For they understand Malachi 3:10, and the responsibility and benefits of tithing, as well as with its importance to this ‘life-in-Christ’ journey. Hallelujah!

Listen, the fact is: we have no place else to go! We are Christ’s and our very being is from and in Him; therefore, we should align and agree with Him in every aspect of our lives. We are comforted that He always wants to prosper and grow us up in our faith-to-faith earthly pilgrimage. He calls us to humility and to submit ourselves to His Lordship; and He will grant us sweet measures of His grace. For He promises to absolutely resist those who are proud. If you say you are His, where can we find proof of your submission to Him when we take a look at your finances?

PRAYER: Lord, we thank you for Your direction and guidance in every aspect of life. Your Word is our light and salvation - may we grasp it, as we need it to make any move on this side of eternity. Thank You for the means to be able to partner with You financially. We want to seek to be apart of projects and expressions to further Your kingdom. We recognize Your love is ever with us. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
