Won’t You Thank Him

SCRIPTURE: “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34: 1-3
It is Sunday morning testimony time! The ladies are in their hats, the men in their suits, and the young people are giggling in the back of the church. Mother Johnson is standing, “Giving honor to God, Pastor, associate ministers, and members; I want to tell you that God has been good to me! He has brought me from a mighty long way. He has made a way out of no way and has kept me through another week.” Then Bro. Robert stood, and he sang his testimony. In his baritone voice, he told us that he is leaning on the promises of God. He had the entire church singing, clapping, and swaying. He would end with telling the congregation how great God has been. Every Sunday Sis. Mary would stand. She thanked God for waking her up, for the activity of her limbs, and for being in her right mind. The young people would giggle. They could imitate all the seasoned saints and of course the Pastor. You could hear them in between Sunday service – playing church. They didn’t fully understand the impact of those testimonies yet.

Testimony time, a time to thank and praise God for all He has done. During Sunday morning testimony time, the congregation was on fire. However, thanking God for breathe, for activity of our limbs, for a good mental state should happen every day, not just on Sunday mornings.  Showing God appreciation should be done daily. Many times, we don’t readily realize that we are taking God for granted. Although, you may set an alarm to wake you God does the shaking that breaks you from that coma you call sleep. How about having the activity of your limbs? Being able to walk without substantial pain is an issue for some. But even if you need a cane or a walker you can testify to the goodness of God. God has seen fit to allow you moments of clarity –won’t you thank Him! God has seen fit to power your lungs so you can breathe without thinking – won’t you thank Him! God has seen fit – won’t you thank Him! Even in times of incident, accident, and sickness He has provided and protected you – won’t you thank Him! God deserves our appreciation. He deserves our praise. When you truly think about the goodness of God and ALL He has done for you; your soul should cry HALLELUJAH, thank God for saving me.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank You for waking us up this morning. Thank You for Your provision and Your protection. Forgive us for taking You for granted and failing to appreciate You. Help us, Lord, to remember to give You all the praise and all the glory for what You have done for us. Remind us that Sunday morning testimony time is not the only time we can praise You. Thank You, Lord, for being our Savior; without You we would be lost. Thank You, for Your Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. In Jesus name, Amen.
