DESIGNED FOR HIM
SCRIPTURE: “…do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19, 20

About three years before I retired in 2021, I began listing all the things I planned to do when that long-awaited day finally arrived. Though my plan was to list one hundred things I desired to do, but could not while working—due to time and energy restraints—my list stopped somewhere around item fifty-two or fifty-three. I cannot find that list today; I wanted to just so I could chuckle a bit at some of my ideas about how I’d spend my post-retirement years. [By God’s grace, perhaps the sands of my life’s “hourglass” will permit me to do a bit more of those activities]. Are you familiar with the popular joke from several years back, which said “If you want to make God laugh, tell HIM your plans?” Think Proverbs 16:9. [There is much wisdom in those two statements].
So what about all the above musings about the post-retirement life? It is inestimably important that we remember throughout each life season allotted to us that these temporal bodies of ours are the temple of the Holy Spirit, who indwells us who trust in Christ Jesus, and that we are NOT our own; for we were bought at a price . That said, our greatest pursuit, purposes, and plans must be to please and serve our Savior God, Jesus Christ. Having offered up His Son to pay for our sins, our heavenly Father requires that we, His children, glorify Him in these bodies and in our spirit, which are His. [See Romans 12:1] Let us humbly and devotedly be about that!
PRAYER: Father God, please bless us with a renewed fervor to live for You and serve You as though we will stand before You in twenty-four hours---as that could very well be the case, according to James 4:13, 14)! Thank You, in Christ’s name; amen!

Amen!
Yes LORD YOUR plans which are always best!!!
It is always good and fitting to remember how we are blessed to give blessings back to God, and to bless others, as we are designed to do. Amen! Our body is the home for that most holy of residents, our Lord. Hallelujah!
