Speak Lord, I’m Listening

SCRIPTURE: “No one calls for justice, nor does any plead for truth. They trust in empty
words and speak lies; they conceive evil and bring forth iniquity.”  Isaiah 59:4
The Lord had not changed, but the nation of Israel had! Have you ever been in distress and found yourself doubting God’s goodness and His power and not realizing you have a false perception about the situation? Have you ever been influenced by how you now relate to someone because of empty words of slander, gossip or backbiting? Satan has the cunning ability to make us believe a lie even when it is covered over with some truth – remember Eve in the garden? She knew what God requested, but she listened to the empty words of the snake (Satan in disguise) and believed the lie instead of truth and you know the rest of the story!

Empty thoughts lead to empty words; empty words lead to empty actions; and empty
actions lead to empty lives!! We have been given spiritual weapons (the Bible and prayer) to
help us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ when our obedience is fulfilled (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Proverbs 31:26 says, “She opens her mouth with wisdom and on her tongue is the law of
kindness.” Language is the expression of thought. Every time you speak your mind is paraded. Therefore, be careful of your thoughts because they may become words at any moment. When God brings no words to mind, it’s best to be silent and listen. A believer’s speech is evidence of their spiritual maturity.

Prayer: Oh Lord my You keep my heart because out of it my mouth speaks either death or life. May I meditate on Your Word that becomes a godly channel of my heart to speak that which glorifies You.
