With Jesus or Against Him

45 Days of Praying for the Elections - Day 43
SCRIPTURE: “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” Matthew 12:30; Luke 11:23
From the very words of the Lord Jesus we are reminded that there is no middle ground between Him and the kingdom that the devil temporarily controls. Though He declares victory through His finished work of the cross, there is still the battle of bringing men and women to the saving faith in Him. It is impossible for one who believes on Christ to live a life that is postured against Him in disobedience and disloyalty. According to the Life Application Bible study note, “Any person who tries to remain neutral in the struggle of good versus evil is choosing to be separated from God.” In these times we are living, there is a tremendous hostility and division in our country that can be clearly seen between darkness and light. What is of the light is determined by the truth of God’s Word and what is of the darkness are policies, philosophies and ideologies that are in direct contradiction to the Word of God. It is not just that the ungodly unbelievers seek to indoctrinate, legislate and enshrine ungodliness against what God determines as righteous, but people who profess to be Christians have opinions and take positions that are in agreement with those who are postured against Christ and His Word. It is not only a nation divided over right and wrong, but the supposed righteous of God are seemingly divided also.

Despite the fact that Jesus Himself prayed to the Father for those that are His through faith in Him would be one as He and the Father are one and be perfected in unity (John 17:21-23), we are divided and some are even aligned with the world on issues like, abortion, homosexuality, transgenderism, same sex marriages and other matters that directly reject God’s clear Word. Knowingly and defiantly in agreement with the world and putting themselves at enmity with God (James 4:4). We see many so called denominational groups and parachurch ministries twisting the words of Jesus or re-imagining the Jesus they want Him to be. It is not only necessary to actively oppose Christ to be against Him, but according to His words, it is only necessary to NOT BE WITH HIM also. Christ came to gather the lost, but those who oppose Him from without, and those from within scatter the flock like wolves in sheep clothing (Acts 20:29). Woe to those who are against the Kingdom of God. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Surely they have been blinded to not see the dangerous place they are in. Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal: “The Lord knows those that are His,” and “Everyone that confesses the name of Christ must turn away from evil” (2 Timothy 19).

PRAYER: Oh Lord our God, we know that we see the enemy working his destructive works in the world and in the physical church, but our every confidence is in Your Sovereignty and great power seen in the finished work and victory of Christ on the cross for us (Colossians 2:12-15). In Jesus’ glorious name, amen.
