Staying in the Fellowship

How is it that we understand things better when we look back at them? With time, God’s Word, and spiritual discernment our Genesis Bible Fellowship Youth and Young Adults (Gen. B.FY) have amassed  some experiences and their devotionals have reminded us that they are not babies anymore. Saints, be encouraged by God’s Word and their devotionals and please encourage our Gen. B.FY.
SCRIPTURE: "Yet you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures…Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up." James 4:2b,3, 7-10
Stay connected with believers in the faith no matter where you are. I was blessed with my summer job in the Africana Studies Department as a Summer Program Assistant. The job consists of doing academic research on topics and issues in the African Diasporic (Black community) in order to gather topical information for the Chair of the Department as he writes essays, articles, and books about said topics. I also research prospective donors who are affiliated with Berklee so the Chair has enough information to help him decide if he wants to reach out to for possible donations. I only received that job through having relationships with different staff members in the department who could see my willingness to work and who also are of the Faith. The entire Spring I was rushing to try to find some job that would take me, but no one was accepting me and some didn’t even offer me an interview. The Lord will show you that your way isn’t always the best way. While it’s good to have organization and care about your future, I was busy making plans with my own intuition, but He corrected me and re-directed me in the way I should go and told me who to ask. It’s funny that I sent multiple emails, cover letters and resumes to at least five different positions on and off campus, but after just one conversation with the Chair about needing a job, he said, “You’re hired.”

All this time I was looking for jobs through my own means but ignored the opportunities and the resources that the Lord placed right in front of me: an academic department made up of professing believers. Staying in the Fellowship not only provides blessings but also provides council, chastisement, accountability, protection, and opportunity for growth.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for the community of Believers that You have set around me. Please continue to guide my will so it lines up with Yours. Show me humility when my pride clouds my eyes from Your simple solutions. Forgive me for my doubt and let me rest assured in You and only You. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up."

nJames 4:10

n"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4

nIt is the embrace of His grace, this grace which uplifts our now, and evermore, and brings balance to every sympathy.

nMay each one's essence, our very souls, find it sufficient for the seasons at hand.

nThanks Sis!

nGlory to God!
