The Antidote for the Enemy’s Bite

If you want to avoid a counterfeit, you should study the real thing. The same goes for the Word of God, which educates on the real and the counterfeit so that when the counterfeit shows up, they are already exposed. This week, our Devotional Team addresses the topic, “Satan’s Desire to Devour the Ministry” and will address just how intentional we must be in our pursuit of our relationship with Christ and the Word of God! This is another “must have” scripture!
SCRIPTURE: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
There is a small, weasel-like animal called the ichneumon. It is said that it attacks a snake only when it is near a certain plant whose leaves contain an antidote for snakebite. When attacked by its enemy, it nibbles immediately the leaves of the life-saving plant and is restored to return to fighting. Well in eternity past, Lucifer who wanted to be God was bitten by our Sovereign God’s Holiness and kicked out of heaven and has been allowed to be the god (small G) of this world for a season.

Hallelujah!!! But, JESUS was assigned to become the antidote for all mankind who would be bitten by sin and attacked by the enemy – the Holy Son of God, the I AM that I Am, the One Who cannot be expressed by words but is expressed with power and authority in 66 books from Genesis to Revelation and will be from eternity to eternity!!! As the Holy Spirit lives in us (“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask and think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20), we can be sober (guarding our minds) II Corinthians 10:4-6 and vigilant (watchful and on guard) as the enemy seeks to roar and devour.

In this short life, God’s truth has challenged us to resist the devil. To stand against, to oppose. We are also told to be steadfast in the faith (Greek: pistis) the truth about faith that brought you to salvation. As we are bitten throughout this journey to throw in the spiritual towel of depression, hopelessness, failure, and all the devices of the enemy until Jesus comes or takes us home, may we remember: “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to GOD, who gives of the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!!!” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

Prayer: Hallelujah!! Thank You JESUS for what You accomplished at Calvary!! Help us to fight a good fight to be privileged to one day lay our crowns at Your Glorious feet for being our VICTORY!!!
