Living Above

If you want to avoid a counterfeit, you should study the real thing. The same goes for the Word of God, which educates on the real and the counterfeit so that when the counterfeit shows up, they are already exposed. This week, our Devotional Team addresses the topic, “Satan’s Desire to Devour the Ministry” and will address just how intentional we must be in our pursuit of our relationship with Christ and the Word of God! This is another “must have” scripture!
SCRIPTURE: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Saints, we are often taken down and off our straight and narrow course with elements strategically designed to interrupt our faith. Well, 1 Peter 3:5 states that as believers in the Lord Jesus we should be sober minded and vigilant in spirit. We are advised to live as a true kingdom soldier; prepared to protect what is most valuable, the ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. Throughout the Word of God, the Christian is called to climb above matters and ways that are common to man. The way we behave and conduct ourselves ultimately determines our success in representing and protecting the Lord’s ministry to this dark world.

We must settle ourselves and recognize just what a privilege it is that God would choose to use you and me for His glory to complete His lavish plan for a dying world. We were “chosen!”  Hallelujah! We are His workmanship created in His Son, the Lord Jesus to perform dynamic things. We are given the same power that raised our Lord from the grave. Yes, we were designed to win, conquer, and stand against the wiles of the enemy. The Holy Spirit in us allows us to continually succeed at living above this flesh. We are to seek those things which are above and not things on the earth (Colossians 3:1-2). Our tools and weapons are not carnal and weak; no, they are mighty in God and able to pull down strongholds (such as, pride, evil urges, addictive habits and behaviors, etc.) (2 Corinthians 10:4). For we know those strongholds threaten to render us ineffective and displeasing to the Father.

To protect the ministry and body of Christ from the darts of the evil one, we must remain on post to guard our hearts, minds, and souls. Yes, we must be diligent and intentional about our obedience to the Word our God has spoken. So let us put on holiness, mercy, kindness, humbleness, forbearance of one another (Colossians 3:12-17), that we may experience the heavenly victory over all of the enemy’s tricks and schemes to destroy our faith and testimony in the Great Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ!

Prayer: Dear God, please help us to stay in Your Word and in prayer to have our testimony rise for the world to see You in all of Your Power, Glory, and Grace. Please lead and direct us in the way we respond to all matters in this life. We thank You for the awesome privilege to Honor You with our living. May we be consumed with winning others to You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name-Amen!

Amen, 🙏🏾Thank You Lord for equipping us, as we invest time with You with Your Word, and Your Spirit, and as we put on the full armour that You provide, so that we can be effective as soldiers in the battlefield that we are living in today. Amen 🙏🏾
