I Am a Witness

A week of devotions  from “Wisdom and Spiritual Understanding from God” draws to a close. We thank our Devotional Team for writing great exhortation from Colossians 1:9-10. Once again, learn these verses and keep them in your pocket, because when you pray the Holy Spirit will bring this verse back to your remembrance, whatsoever He has said unto you.
SCRIPTURE:  For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God…”   Colossians 1:9, 10 NKJV
Saints, my husband and I came to GBFC at a very vulnerable time in our lives. It was after a church split. We were not only leaving the Pastor we had grown to love, but we were leaving many family members that we enjoyed seeing every week. It could have only been God because we were careful to look forward, with expectation, and not to get hung up on our former place. When we heard Pastor Cockrell we were both struck with a “Wow!” Romans 10:14-15, teaches us how to stay encouraged in the walk of faith on this side of life. We must have a covering! Yes, a preacher whereby we can hear the Word of God expounded upon so much so that we learn and understand God’s principles of faith. Yes, become enlightened by verses we can trust, embrace, adopt, and practice all to please our Lord.

Hearing and understanding the Word are first steps to growing and strengthening our faith with the Lord Jesus Christ. So it was at GBFC that we began to love the Living Word; it was with every Bible study and with every sermon. It did not matter if the message was stressing God’s tenderness or His wrath. It was God’s love towards us! We were gaining spiritual understanding and wisdom. We began praying together and actually having family devotions, which were all quite awkward, initially.

The Spiritual Understanding and Wisdom from God are all for His glory and for us to present well-pleasing to Him. God allows us to benefit from all of His great provisions to have us ultimately glorify Him. For we begin to see clearly. He is awesome, faithful, righteous, and holy! Hallelujah!

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your love towards us. We can’t make one turn and not see it-Your love and Your Provision for us are so refreshing. You give us the hope, direction, privilege and opportunity to honor You with our lives. Help us not to take it for granted…Yes, the knowledge and understanding of Your Word helps us to gain wisdom in how we live in light of our Lord Jesus Christ, His death, and the great power of His resurrection! In Jesus’ Name-Amen!

"Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders.

Let me walk upon the waters, wherever You would call me.

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander,

And my faith is made much stronger in the presence of my Savior."
