GOD WANTS A 'YES'

In the days leading to Christmas and the New Year let us focus on the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While many debate the actual date of our Savior’s birth, we rejoice that he has come, just as our Father said He would! So as we leave those details aside for men to grapple with, let us focus on the miracle and the fulfillment of Jesus' birth!
SCRIPTURE: "And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.' 38 Then Mary said, 'Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her." Luke 1:26-38
When I read the passage above, I immediately thought about the James Hall’s selection, “God
Wants a Yes.” Mary, confronted by the angel with all of what God desired her to do, was
brought to peace with God’s plan. Indeed, she would give birth to the Son of God. God wants
us to say 'Yes' to what He wills and how He directs.

Each round of the song goes higher and higher...the voices of the choir ring out powerfully
stressing how God wants our 'Yes.' I likened the rounds of the song to life in Christ. Each time
we say 'Yes' to Him; and do what He calls us to do, He takes us higher. Our promotion causes a
stronger awareness that He is our Strength; our Song; our Everything. I am sure after Mary’s
'Yes,' and all of the divine provision God rendered unto her, she gained closeness and a clearer
view of God’s faithfulness. We, too, grow and learn to depend upon God more; we see Him
high and lifted as our Truth, our Shield, and the One we can always trust.

Prayer: LORD, we thank You for Mary’s willingness to be used in Your Plan of redemption for the world through Your Christ. Thank You for our opportunities to say 'Yes'...to agree with You and freely do what You want us to do; go where You want us to go; and say what You want us to say. We know it is by Your Power and Might that we can do anything at all. So we trust Your Sovereignty and Your Divine will to lead us from faith to faith. For we understand, the just lives by faith in YOU, alone, Oh Lord! In Your Name we Pray, Jesus. Amen!
