PRESERVATION OF OUR LORD’S TESTIMONY: Who or What Maintains Your Lot?

This month the Devotions Ministry will focus on a prayer list that Pastor Wayne Cockrell created a few months ago for the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church Family. In this ministry of encouragement our writers will devote a week to one topic, and we pray that you will be blessed by their words of exhortation.
SCRIPTURE:  “LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.” Psalm 16:5 (NLT)
“The law of the Lord is perfect, [a]converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;” Psalm 19:7-8 (NKJV)
Some years ago people going through some trying circumstance were prone to say, ‘Oh, but this too shall pass.’ Another oft-quoted phrase, “It came to pass,” as with the first saying, reminds me that no matter what the situation is that threatens to disturb my peace---fill in the blanks with whatever-- I can rest in the assurance offered in God’s word that my Savior God “….maintains my lot.” (Ps. 16:5b) I can rest and wait confidently in Him , remembering that, like the psalmist writer, King David, “I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.” Who but our ever-faithful Lord can grant us such continual spiritual and emotional security? The blood-purchased child of God must never neglect the precious privilege Christ offers us to “cast EVERY care” upon Him; He does indeed care for us! I believe we undermine this wonderful privilege sometimes, since the world in which we live, is enshrouded in such cynicism, hopelessness, and spiritual apostasy. Ah, but, King’s kid, that is
not OUR legacy since, if you’ve been born again, Christ is yours and you are His!

Circumstances or what’s happening in the world, or even immediately around you and I, need not keep us in a “funk,” or in a state of perpetual dismay, for it is the unique lot of God’s people to trust in what His Spirit reveals is our birthright in Christ—i.e., my heart IS glad, and this flesh will rest in hope. Scripture memorization of brief or lengthy passages are wonderfully beneficial.
Sometimes the child of God must encourage him or herself in their Savior by affirming that “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures
forevermore.” (Ps. 16:11)

Have you moved away, however, briefly, from His presence, dear one? Have any circumstances recently moved into your life and diverted your gaze from His promise to keep you in all your ways, or are you obediently resolved to set your love upon and your unwavering trust in the
Lord your God? Step right back in it by faith.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, please forgive us for at times acting like we’ve forgotten the answer to the scriptural question: “Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” We are never left alone to handle life’s challenges and difficulties in our own strength. Thank You for maintaining our lot! AMEN!

Isn't that the joy and comfort we have in Him and in His testimony to us? He is mine and I am His.
