PRESERVATION OF OUR LORD’S TESTIMONY AMONGST US: THE LORD’S ASSIGNMENT

Starting this month the Devotions Ministry will focus on a prayer list that Pastor Wayne Cockrell created a few months ago for the Genesis Bible Fellowship Church Family. In this ministry of encouragement our writers will devote a week to one topic, and we pray that you will be blessed by their words of exhortation.
SCRIPTURE: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,” 2 Timothy 1:7-9
Saved in October 1972 when God used a converted homosexual Jew to share the Gospel – God’s testimony. Lived in an unequally yoked marriage for 32 years before Jesus saved my husband on his deathbed – God’s testimony. Diagnosed in 2012 of Multiple Myeloma yet living by the grace of God a quality of life these 11 years – God’s testimony.

Paul, a faithful servant of Jesus Christ as he was nearing the end of his life encouraged Timothy to remain loyal in the face of suffering – God’s testimony. Yes, we are living in perilous times, yes evil is abounding, but God has not given us a spirit of fear – cowardice – but power through the Holy Spirit. He lives in us to testify to us that we can do absolutely nothing without Him – God’s testimony. When I’m at my weakest – His strength is perfected. When I’m tired of this life and want to go home to be with Him – His grace is sufficient because it’s about His testimony.

The platform of our purpose for this short life is right where God has planted us or sovereignly allowed us to be planted. The Lord has assigned us a sphere of influence whether good, bad, or ugly to show forth His power for His glory! Yes, “He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, (II Tim. 1:9).”

Prayer: Precious Lord Jesus, forgive me for making my life’s purpose more about what I wanted rather than yielding more consistently for You to conform me into Your image for Your purpose. Thank You for keeping what has been committed to You through brokenness and faith for Your testimony.

Amen. And we shall behold Him, face to face... Praise be to Jesus, for what He has done, is doing, and shall do, until that day of perfect and perpetual praise. God is good... may the Lord's testimony through us 'Shine Jesus' light'!

What a testimony of His timing, His goodness, His faithfulness. None of us should look at our lives as useless. Our God does have a plan for us. Thanks Sis. Cheryl.
