What God Will Do when You Believe!

Scripture:  "Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered himself with sackcloth and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published throughout Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; do not let them eat, or drink water. 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let everyone turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? 10 Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.”  Jonah 3:6-10
Salvation at its core is God withholding judgement. Doing away with the judgement we deserve. God withheld what Nineveh was due because of their faith in Him. When you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, Christ is your sin bearer. All of what God feels eternally about our sin was dealt with in Jesus.  You and I will never be under condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, Romans 8:1  No more condemnation. He deals with us as sons. He may chasten us, but it will never be an issue of being condemned.

Prayer: Almighty God, we praise You for meeting our needs in eternity past, knowing beforehand that Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, would be the only One suited to endure the penalty of our sin debt. Now that we are in Christ, we are grateful that You have spared us condemnation and equally grateful that Your great Love for us is the reason for every chastening our souls need. In Jesus name, Amen!
