Here’s Your Christmas Card

Scripture:  "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." Isaiah 9:6-7
Take a day and read every Christmas card you received this year and read every scripture therein. Focus on the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ and the miracle of His birth. Search out those Old Testament scriptures that foretold of His coming (Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, Isaiah 11:1, Jeremiah 23:5, Micah 5:2). Take a moment while reading those various scriptures in Matthew and Luke and imagine the angels and their revelation to Zacharias, Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds. Think about Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem. Marvel that our Savior was a baby, a toddler, a teenager, and a young man and praise the Lord for sending us a Savior. May all of these Christmas cards and the Word of God remind you that the fulfillment of God’s promise and redemption plan all began well before the manger.

Prayer:
Father, before the foundation of the world, You knew we would need a Savior. You could have sent us a Man fully matured, instead You sent our Savior (the Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace) in the most humbling form and in the most humbling condition to experience all aspects of humanity. If that wasn’t enough, You then made Him who knew no sin to become sin for us. That is the kind of love some struggle to understand or accept, but we who are saved embrace this sacrificial love. It is this love that saved us, not because we loved You first or were so special or sacrificed anything to You, but simply because You loved us first! Oh, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should be called children of God, heirs and Joint heirs with Jesus Christ. Oh Abba Father, thank You for our Savior Brother, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Hallelujah!! Most of the Christmas cards I received reminded me of the first Noel when God sent forth His only begotten Son to save that which is lost. He came to seek and save the lost.
