FRICTION THAT BRINGS UNITY

Scripture:  John 17:21 says “…that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.”

“Time is significant because it is so rare” someone has stated.  Time can never be recycled, yet it is our friend. Time enables us to make wrongs – right, hurts to heal, attitudes to change and Christlike character to be developed.

A southern preacher divided his church members into five types of bones. (1) Wishbones – Folks always wishing for better things, but never willing to work and pray for them;  (2) Jawbones - The gossiping kind that keeps the church in turmoil; (3) Funnybones – They are touchy, wear their feelings on their sleeves and are always talking about leaving the church – but never do; (4) Drybones – Orthodox, but dead as fossils and the (5) Backbones – The spiritual support of the church that keeps the body standing.

We must endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Iron occurs in the red blood cells where it serves to carry oxygen to all parts of the body. In the Body of Christ, we should be as iron to motivate others to breathe a little easier by encouraging and edifying them. As iron, we also are to sharpen one another and stimulate a positive friction that brings unity. May this season of separation from one another stir up our hearts to yearn for God’s spiritual cord of unity bound by love for one another.

Prayer:  Thank You Father for my sisters and brothers in Christ who have been used by You to stimulate my growth in Christ. May we continue to see the blessings of the “One Another Mindset” and how much we need one another.
