I Have the Keys to the Kingdom

Scripture: Matthew 16:13-20 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not [g]prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth [h]will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.

The Lord has given the church the keys to Kingdom authority
Exclusively calling us to represent heaven through earthly seniority

Our primary goal is to develop discipleship through new memberships
Ordering the values of heaven to this foreign land for Kingdom citizenship

After all, the world is not our home to grow into, or become
The church doesn’t represent the country it’s in, it represents the country it’s from

He looks and works through the church first
Turning away from religious and social gatherings that are rehearsed

So, the Lord set up shop throughout the world
Bringing the values of the Kingdom to flush out and submerge

Delegating the church to influence the culture on how He wants things presented
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven

Unfortunately, the church has adopted the world’s views rather than the Kingdom’s
Causing chaos and confusion with emotionally driven addendums

The church is not a religious entity with worldly idols
Validating assemblies by sprinkling Jesus and a little bible

The church must be built on the Rock
The culture shouldn’t have any say or stock

The church should be diligently working on offense
Knowingly, evil and the evil one are steadily on defense

Verbally and visually reflecting the rule of Christ in all areas
Relying on the Word of God to determine our daily criteria

So, stand up church, and rise up
We have the keys to heaven to back us up

Prayer: Forgive us Father for not being the church You’ve called us to be. Give us that fire we once had to fulfill our assigned roles in the faith. Remove the idols, lies, and selfish desires and replace them with Your truth. Have mercy upon us Lord! We sin against You and You only. Restore, repair, reignite, reassure, and renew our faith. You are worthy of so much more from us. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen!
