Growth Through an Audience of One

Scripture:  Colossians 3:23-24 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
Psalm 51:4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight—That You may be found just when You speak, And blameless when You judge.


I aspire to grow in Christ
I aspire to evolve through life

For so long I made my presence known
Esteeming myself, while my good side is shown

Focusing directly and indirectly to impress people
Relishing on what I have, as if others are unequal

So, I prepare myself for accolades and applause
My accomplishments have superseded spiritual awards

Therefore, my spiritual development is blocked and hindered
While rewarded by people, my Spirit is grieved and offended

Lord, I’ve sinned against You and against You only
The scripture says, my aim should be pleasing to You, solely


One God, one aim, one faith, one agenda
My belief, my choice, my obedience, I’ve surrendered

Finally, I’ve realized I must adhere to an audience of One
The Lord’s plans, expectations, and purpose are bar none

Prayer:  Forgive me  Father! You have not been considered as my priority. I have chosen to impress people and the majority. My actions are not impressive to You. You have not been the central focus on what I do. I desire to grow, but my blessings have been slow. Now, I know! My motivation and intent should be established by an audience of One. My Lord! Direct my path in the way I should go. Cultivate a heart that’s satisfying to You for me to grow.
