Jesus, Our Divine Ark (Part I)
Scripture: John 14:27b - Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The times in which we are currently living are arguably some of the most uncertain that many of us have ever seen, economically, politically, and socially. The threat posed by ever-emerging viruses, the chronic failures of many urban school systems, and the growing breakdown of the traditional family are just a few causes for justified fear-- outside of a biblical Christ-centered worldview, that is. How are you processing all of these bleak news forecasts, dear reader?
Now is as good a time as any to review Bible prophecy. It reminds us that all of the turmoil that we are hearing about from various news sources was foretold us by our God and Savior. While fear should be the expected response of those who spurn the gospel, Christ would have His own to “Be still and KNOW that He is God.” (Ps. 46:10) We are called, as one writer puts it, “to rest in Him.” He always, with every ‘fear not’ in the Word, tells us WHY we are to obey that command--because He is WITH us. We can completely entrust every need that we may have to our all-sufficient Savior—which is why He told Moses and every soul that would ever believe on Christ Jesus, that He is the great “I AM,” (in John 8:58), and a shield to those who put their TRUST in HIM! (Exodus 3:14, 15 and Proverbs 30:5) To His twice-born people, He is a ‘sun and shield,’ and “… no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Are you trusting Him?! As the Alpha and Omega, He goes BEFORE us and stands BETWEEN us and whatever unknown [to us] events that await us!
Prayer: Dear Father, You have caused us who believe to trust that Jesus IS our “Rock in a weary land…a Shelter in the time of storm.” Let nothing distract our gaze from You, precious Savior! Thank You for Your faithfulness and love toward us. AMEN!
