Worship -- Our Faith in Action

Scripture:  Hebrews 11:6 – “ But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.”

Hebrews 11:1 –“ Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”

To worship God, we have to be totally dependent and have faith in our Lord/Savior Jesus the Christ.  “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen” (Hebrews 11:1).  Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists, and rewards those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:1).  “So then, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).  It is by faith that we surrender our lives to the saving grace/lordship of  Jesus Christ and choose to abide in Him continually.  “For by grace are you saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works least any man boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

“But an hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth.  For the Father wants such people to worship Him.  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).  The Dr. Tony Evans Study Bible note for John 4:23-24 says:  “To worship the Father in Spirit is to have a heart that is in pursuit of an intimate/spiritual relationship with the God who is spirit.  To worship God in truth is to worship Him in a biblically accurate way – through the One who is the truth. God is on the hunt for those who will worship Him spiritually through Jesus Christ based on the truth of His Word.”

It is a privilege and honor to worship God!  He is certainly worthy to be praised!  In worship we put action to our faith as we allow the Lord to change our lifestyle (Romans 12:1-2), and as we lift our voices in praise and adoration of the one who died on the cross for us!  God rewards us with His presence!

“O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. 7  For He is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand” (Psalms 95:1-7a).

Prayer:  Dear Heavenly Father:  Thank You for giving me the privilege to worship You!  Whether I am bowing down or standing, let me continually allow you to change my lifestyle. Thank You for Your presence as I worship You.  All this I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
