Don’t Worry -- Our Future is Known By God!
Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. I Corinthians 5:7 - For we walk by faith, not by sight.
I remember when I finally invited Jesus Christ into my life (in August of 1978)! Burdens were lifted from me. I had peace with God through Jesus Christ! “Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1-2). As I daily began to read God’s word, then I have assurance of my salvation. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God (I John 5:13). Inspite of the fact that we know we are eternally saved, we may be fearful or worry about tomorrow because of circumstances we are facing today. We have to remember to “walk by faith, and not by sight” (II Corinthians 5:7). God loves us so much, and He cares about the intricate details of what we are facing no matter how difficult things may be. Even though it doesn’t seem like what you are going through now will end, the Lord sees and cares. Our future is known by God.
When you are tempted to worry or be fearful, remember:
•“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” (Psalms 23:4).
•“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
•“Thou will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee” (Isaiah 26:3).
•“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).
•“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” (Matthew 6:25-27).
•“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
•“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:5).
•“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (II Timothy 1:7).
•“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
•“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1:2-4).
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father: Thank You for saving me and giving me assurance of my salvation. When I am tempted to worry or be fearful in what I am facing, help me to realize that my future is known by You. My life is in Your hand. All this I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
