My Night Thoughts

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 10:1-6  - Now I, Paul, myself am pleading with you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ—who in presence am lowly among you, but being absent am bold toward you. 2 But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Who I am, is what I am, when no one is AROUND
No one can judge or critique, how I really get DOWN

My thoughts and deeds have no BOUNDARIES
The issues of the heart and mind influence my PRIORITIES

Without control, my motives and intent will WANDER
My consideration to sin becomes desirable and FONDER

Night thoughts are unaccountable because no one KNOWS
The setting is set, with the lights off, and the doors CLOSED

Now, who will I slumber with, the Lord or the ENEMY?
Who will I choose to sleepover as the ultimate friend of ME?

Meanwhile, I haven’t been able to SLEEP
Rather than talking to the Shepherd, I am counting SHEEP

The Lord advocated for me to take these thoughts CAPTIVE
Without His presence at night, temptations is persistently ACTIVE

Night thoughts can persuade isolation, compromise, and even ANGER
Night thoughts can invite Satan, temporary pleasures, and ungodly STRANGERS

However, night thoughts can be controlled, sanctified, and WHOLESOME
Night thoughts that are captive involve prayers, scriptures, and DEVOTIONS

Therefore, my night thoughts must be directed by the Lord’s LIGHT
Let the meditation of my heart, be accountable and acceptable in Your SIGHT

Prayer:  Spiritual warfare is constant Lord. However, it has its purpose. But, I notice many times it happens at night. I am so thankful that You are available twenty four seven. You are my spiritual surveillance camera and burglar alarm when the enemy attacks. Lord, arrest this thief in the night. Alert me with Your divine detections. Police what needs to be locked up and what needs to be released in my thoughts. I honor Your presence Lord! In the name of Jesus. Amen!
