Distant Lover

Scripture: James 4:8 - Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
There is no question I have the greatest lover
In fact, He found me, despite imperfections were discovered
He is patient and compassionate, He is my alpha and omega
He is faithful and caring, He is my redeemer and savior
He is Lord of all Lords, He is an awesome provider
He is always available, He dwells inside me
How close I am to Him is my choice and responsibility
Our relationship develops progressively, intimately, and personally
However, I’ve been distracted by my flesh and sin
I claim I’m in love with Him, but only from a distance
Meanwhile, I’ve lost my passion and zeal
The choice to love is outweighed by how I feel
Prayers and scriptures are not considered or used
My relationship with You is distant, so guess who moved?
The depth of my spirituality has been exposed
I’ve separated myself from You, now I feel alone
The troubles that stand before me persist
You are still with me, but I am loving You from a distance
Obviously, there isn’t any intimacy to sustain our relationship
I am spiritually too far away to conduct a divine fellowship
So, I am choosing to draw nearer as my Lord renews my heart
Rekindling a love that could never be separated from the start
Therefore, I confess and repent, while making spiritual adjustments
If there is a breakdown in the relationship, I’m the distant lover
Prayer: Lord, I’ve wandered away from You. You are my source to live. Yet, I’ve chosen to live without You. Lord, I can’t do it without You. You are more than enough. Forgive me Father! I’m so grateful I can come to Your throne of grace. Thank You for loving me! Thank You for loving me! I come to You in the name of Jesus, Amen!
