When Circumstances Alter My Path

Scripture: Philippians 1:12 (NKJ) - But I want you to know brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel.

Apostle Paul sees his imprisonment and the many hardships in his life as a good thing, for they have led to the spread of the gospel. Paul was often persecuted severely (2Cor. 11:23-27) and suffered many forms of hardship for the sake of his message. Those things served to “advance and spread” the gospel. The world viewed Paul’s circumstances as unfavorable, but Paul saw them as positive. Paul intended to bring Glory to the Lord with his life. Suffering can be for a good cause. Apostle James would advise that we count it all joy, in view of adverse circumstances- knowing that the trying of  your faith works patience (Jam. 1:2-3).

What happens to us along life’s path is not just by chance but is God orchestrated and God directed --  for His good pleasure and greater use in His Kingdom agenda (plan). Don’t despair when God puts up roadblocks, closes doors for a season,  or maybe permanently. God has authority over every aspect of our life, and He will get our attention no matter what. He has the power to place you on a different path for your good and His Glory. The difficulties Christians face along life’s journey are means through which God works to accomplish His will and to shape us so that we reflect the character of Christ (Romans 8:28-30). Altered paths “work” together for our good and God’s glory. Allow God to direct your life around circumstances. Trust His hand, even though you don’t know His plan. The coronavirus alone has created much pain and suffering around the world. Many programs have been redirected suddenly without warnings.  Christians are trusting and waiting to see what the Lord has for us. He indeed is in control. Beloved, whatever path the Lord has placed you on, stay the course. He will get the Glory! Therefore, watch and pray.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me to trust Your hand when I can’t see Your plan in circumstances. For, my life is full of unrehearsed possibilities, and each has its own identifying print. In Christ. Amen.
