His Desire; Our Need

Scripture:  John 16:13 (NASB) - But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth;… and He will disclose to you what is to come.

Don’t you just love open-book exams?  The right answers are all out there in the open!  We, the test takers, can just go to where those answers are clearly revealed and record the correct responses!  Is that not every soul’s greatest need? Oh, the astounding privilege of being instructed in the age-tested ways of divine peace that NO worldly circumstances, or shifting national tides can shake!  Those recorded answers in God’s Word, if read and heeded each day, will keep us focused as upon a light shining in a dark place. (2 Peter 1:19)   Isn’t this what our Lord desires for us?—to be guided by His truth into the way of peace? (Luke 1:79)  We’re strongly warned in Colossians 2:8 to resist being cheated through philosophy and empty deceit, “…according to the tradition of man…and not according to Christ.”  These truths, extend beyond religious doctrine, I’m convinced, and should be the sieve through which Christ followers view every troubled hotspot in our world!  ”

God’s Word declares that He has blessed us with “..every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world…” (Ephes. 1:3)  So, rather than ingesting all of those nightly news reports of civic and national anxiety or unrest, let us renew our resolve to have the “mind of Christ, “ and find refuge in the Rock of our salvation, the “Stone the builders rejected,” (Ps. 18:1 ; Matt. 21:42).   We can stake our lives here and hereafter on the One who “declares the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done.” (Isaiah 46:10)

Prayer:   Dear Abba, we praise You for the faith You’ve given us to rest in the truth that “everything over [our] heads is under Your feet.”  In Christ’s name; Amen!
