A Purpose for Prayer

Scripture:  Romans 12:12 - rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;

Consider, your earthly issues that require heavenly intervention
Consider, the purpose of prayer and the Lord’s role and position

Most of the time we desire for the Lord to change our circumstances
If there is no change, we remain the same, in our present arrangements

Lord, change this or change that, because it’s failing
Yet, prayers should be strengthening, sustaining, and prevailing

Trouble will always be there, despite any arrangements
The objective for prayer is for His presence to change us

Prayer doesn’t solve problems by telling God what to do
There is a big difference between praying away and praying through

We desire the will power to continue and endure where we lack
Turning away, praying for a lighter load, but for a stronger back

So anxious to rid ourselves of pain and difficulties that challenge us
We fail to learn the lessons that cultivate, develop, and grow in us

Meanwhile, missed opportunities begin multiplying over several years
Rather than “get me out prayers”, it should be “get me through prayers”

Truthfully, we desire comfort, rather than giving the Lord His just glory
Truthfully, we desire to be the Author and Finisher of our own life stories

Our shortsighted vision is to pray away and remove trials and problems
God’s perfect plan is seasonal situations requiring His unmatched involvement

So, let’s be clear, prayer can change matters, yet if my matters don’t change
There is something in us that the Lord is planning to transform and rearrange

Therefore, the purpose of prayer is to look upward for my change and transformation
Despite what we think or feel, we are to glorify God in any and every situation

Prayer:  My prayers align us with You. We can directly come as we are daily. Thank You for the tribulations before us, that transform us to be what You want us to be. Continue to change us Lord. As we continue to seek You in prayer. We will be careful to give You all the glory, in Jesus name. Amen
