A Season of Change

Scripture:  Deuteronomy 30:19 - I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Choice, not chance determines human destiny! Good or bad decisions can provide the open door for change or transition. This door can cause restlessness or an inner turmoil that reveals that something is wrong. Sometimes, we may even feel challenged, or we may have a propelling sense of excitement. Our transitional stage moves from a sphere of equilibrium, which is a stable or familiar place, to a sphere of restlessness, which is depicted as inner upheaval because all is not well. Listen to what Isaiah 26:3 states, “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Someone has anonymously said “it is always darkest just before it goes totally black.”
Disequilibrium comes in many shapes and sizes. Daniel’s disequilibrium was the dreadful lion’s
den. Elijah’s depressing cave experience produced a distorted equilibrium. The fiery furnace
threatened the emotional balance of the three Hebrew boys. The huge fish that swallowed Jonah tried to digest his emotional stability. Because Mary gave birth to the Son of God without a natural father, society tried to shame Mary into an emotional state bereft of equilibrium. No state of disequilibrium can ever compare to Christ’s death on the cross, which caused absolute
separation from God the Father. I Peter 3:18 proclaims, “For Christ also suffered once for
sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh
but made alive by the Spirit…”  Therefore, we choose life in the Lord Jesus Christ in the best of times because He has always proven to be our rest even in the worst of times.

Prayer: Thank You Father that whether the assignment is a den, a cave, a fiery furnace, shame or that which I’ve dreaded the most has come upon me, I choose to trust and rest in Your sovereignity. I choose to trust Your Heart when I can’t see Your hand.
