Jesus is the true G.O.A.T . (Greatest of All Time)

Scripture: (Hebrew 8:6) But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.

In the sports world, fans argue over who is the Greatest of All Time - the GOAT. This discussion spans across all sports, and the winner usually differs by decade. However, across all religions, Jesus is literally the Greatest of ALL Time since the beginning of time. There was no one greater before Him, and there will be no one greater after Him. He is truly undefeated.

Comedian Steve Harvey is famous for many things --  one thing is his introduction of people. He even wrote an introduction of Jesus. He said;

It is my honor to introduce a man that needs no introduction.
His credits are too long to list. He has done the impossible time after time.
He hails out of a manger in Bethlehem by way of Heaven.
His mother is still headlining in the catholic church today. His Daddy is the
Author of a book that’s been on the bestseller list since the beginning of time.
He holds the record for the world’s greatest fish fry. He fed 5000 hungry
souls with two fish and five loaves of bread. He can walk on
water and turn water into wine with no special effects and no camera tricks.
He has a headshot on every church fan across the country.
Even before the Kings of Comedy He was hailed the King of all Kings,
Ruler of the Universe, Alpha & Omega, the beginning and the end,
The bright and morning Star. Some say He’s the rose of Sharon.
And some say He’s the Prince of Peace. Get on your feet, put your hands together
And show your love for the Second Coming of the One and Only

Now, not to take anything away from Mr. Harvey, but my Lord is so much more. Nonetheless, it is understandable that it is difficult to put Christ’s greatness into a five-minute opening. Just as it is difficult to fit Christ’s greatness into a short devotional. Think about this; the Bible has 66 Books, about 1,189 chapters, and 31,173 verses. And although researchers say there are only 166 verses about Jesus, Christians know that the entire Bible is about Jesus. The Old Testament   talks about the coming King and the New Testament details that King’s life, death, resurrection & His second coming. Christians know that Jesus has always been. He was around in the beginning.

John 1:1-5 says, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  5And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. Okay, if that doesn’t blow you away go down a few verses

John 1:14 says, And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Truthfully, verses 1 -5 are a mic drop. Those verses explain a greatness that many can’t even began to embrace. Can’t you hear the skeptics saying, “What? Christ was there in the beginning? Do you really believe that?” But not only was Christ there in the beginning, Christ then came from Heaven, took the form of a baby, and grew up just like everyone else. He wasn’t born into a rich family, but He has made all who believe in Him wealthy. He didn’t have medical degrees, but He is still the best healer the world has known. He never took a psychology class but many call him Counselor. The world has never had a greater Educator. And without stellar looks, Instagram, or Facebook, Christ has maintained an obscene number of followers; 2.3 billion to be exact (pewresearch.org).

Wow!!! Greatest of All Time now sounds like an understatement. Not only did Christ take human form, but He lived a sinless life for 33 years experiencing EVERYTHING humans experience He was also God. Can’t you hear the skeptics saying, “GOD? You think Jesus is Jesus and God? You think, Jesus is God the Father and God the Son?” Of course, the answer is a resounding YES!!!! Great is just not a strong enough word to describe Jesus; yet He is indeed the Greatest of all Time. He is indeed God in the flesh. We already have John 1:1 and John 1:14 as proof but before John, Matthew 1:23 says, that a virgin will give birth to a son and His name will be called Emmanuel which means God with us. That should be enough. However, Jesus said, Before Abraham was, I am (John 8:58) and Jesus told us that He and the Father are one in John 10:30. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you have known Me, you would have known My Father also, and from now on you know Him and have seen Him (John 14: 6&7). Finally, Colossians 2:9 says, that in Jesus the whole fullness of deity dwells – the whole fullness of deity! That is so clear. There are so many verses that confirm who Jesus is that no person should doubt His deity or doubt His greatness.
So, let’s recap. Jesus was there when the world was formed, He came to earth as a baby, grew into a man, didn’t sin at all (that alone is great), healed, taught, corrected, led, fed, died and rose. He is a mountain mover, chain breaker, heart changer, protector, provider, and friend. He is the world’s Savior, Redeemer, and King. He is the victor in the battle against Satan and his minions. And despite our sins against Him, He loves us unconditionally, He makes intercession for us to the Father, He has prepared a place for us and is coming back to get us. Great, I’ll say again, is not a strong enough word to describe Jesus. My God, My Lord, My Savior is awesome and the undisputed GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!!

Prayer: My Lord, My Savior, My King Your greatness cannot be denied, it cannot be contested, and there is no one greater. Thank you for Your faithfulness and Your unconditional love. You are indeed Great, Majestic, and Awesome. There is none like You. You know my beginning and my ending and my in between and still love me.  Your Word says my sins died on the cross with you. I thank you; I praise You for Your greatness, Your example, and Your love. Thank You, Lord. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
