In the Process of Time – God Does a New Thing

Scripture: Isa. 42:9a: “Behold, the former things have come to pass and new things I declare;”
In the Process of Time – God Does a New Thing, the theme for the Women’s Ministry 2020, but little did I know how much this theme and verse would begin to be experienced. The coronavirus, the home going of my sister in Christ, Jan Terry after serving Christ together for 48 years, being a caregiver for my mother, and all of the other short term and long term assignments that have become the new normal. Oh, you have yours because they have been assigned by our Awesome, all wise and all-knowing Creator. Ps. 31:14 says “But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God,” my times are in Your hand.”
The assigned process includes patience and longsuffering. Colossians 1:11 “…strengthen with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy…” The patience is needed for the circumstances, and the longsuffering is needed for the relationships. As I reflect on the 32 years of being in an unequally yoked marriage and living to experience my husband’s salvation on his deathbed, the circumstances assigned were swallowed up by the joy of his salvation and the intimacy and sweet fellowship I developed with the Lord, but yet I was still in the process.
Prov. 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in ALL of your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Either this scripture is becoming real and experiential “in the process of time” or you and I are WASTING OUR PAIN!! The process is never comfortable, but the glory Christ receives and the growth far outweigh the pain of the process.
After the process, the new thing that God will do in us to get His glory through us is according to His sovereign will. Someone has said “The only preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today” and that’s all I’m given, and really it’s one day, one hour, one minute and one second of God’s time.
Prayer: Daddy, You know the number of my assigned days, and I know that I have wasted much pain. Please do what is necessary in me to do through me that I may experience in this life any new thing ordained by You for Your glory.
