My Pleasure or Yours

Scripture:  Luke 8:14 - "The seed which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

Politics seem to be an idea, a place where many flock and whine alike.  Many Christians sound just like the unbelievers.  They want what is best for their pockets; what will make their circumstances better without any thought to what God desires.  Matthew 6:24, encourages us to have only one Master.  And 2 Timothy 3 and 2 Thessalonians 2 mention how in the last days there will be many who will turn from truth to the world’s evils & lies.  So how should a follower of Christ govern his/her self in this land.  Is it possible to live in this kind of generation with all the distractions and options and remain faithful?  Is it possible to give up our preference for God?  Is it possible to love  God more?  Is it possible to make hard choices?  We are to cling to what we know pleases Jesus.  We used to use the acronym WWJD.  If we have been followers of Christ, we know how He loves children and does not want them harmed  (Matthew 19).  We read in Romans 1 how God hates the practices of gays and lesbians.  When these issues of what God loves and hates are in any balance or platform, they should be essential matters in how we proceed as Christians.  Forget the party promises & platforms; only God’s pleasure matters to us!  And one day every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that HE is Lord!  Keep in mind the very intent and motivation of our hearts can bring God pleasure.

Prayer:  Lord, we thank You that You care for us and desire to have us as your letters in this world.  Oh Lord, bring us to the point where we know Your will is greater than our own.  You desire to make us into the image of Christ.  He gave up His life to save ours and all for Your pleasure.  Help us to say as Christ, not our will, but Father, let Your will be done.  Thank You for all You give us - In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
