Our Charge

SCRIPTURE: “As for you, my son, Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts.  If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.  (10) Consider now, “for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it.”  I Chronicles 28:9-10
What I am learning is that this life is not about us, at all.  On the contrary, in Christ, we are to live as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God (I Corinthians 4:1).  God has given us His Son, the Christ.  He sacrificed His life so that we can be reconciled to the Father.  Christ’s work on the cross and His resurrection gave us the privilege to be named the children of God.  This is serious business!  We are on assignment; and are no longer our own.  We live by the faith of the Son of God.

According to the scriptures, our faith in Christ is how we are to navigate on this side of eternity.  For “the just shall live by faith” (Hebrews 10:38).  We witnessed in Scripture how Abraham by faith was fully convinced that God was able to make him a father of the nation of Israel all though he was almost 100 years old (Romans 4).  We also see how David, though shamefully disqualified from building the the Lord’s temple, readily accepted the responsibility to encourage his son, Solomon (chosen to build the temple) to serve God with a loyal heart and with a willing mind.  David further exhorted Solomon to know the Lord as One he could depend upon.  And Solomon assured that God would be with him, could be strong and courageous to finish the work the LORD had given him to do (I Chronicles 28).

In light of what God teaches us through the lives of the Old Testament saints, we are to be ready to glorify our Father in heaven.  Come what may we are to only make our boast in the Lord.  We are to clearly declare the Christ as our Rock and Stay in whatever situation or task He gives us to do; the One whom we cling, honor and serve.  It is only by faith in Christ that we are able to declare our triumphant testimonies.  There is to be no glory in any other.
God’s work and purposes are accomplishing beyond us.  He is sovereign, righteous and Holy.  His desires are above and superior to ours.  Therefore, we are to live unto Him fully believing and trusting His will to be done despite all the worldly noise.  We are all-in with what satisfies and pleases Him!  He is the Great One; and our charge is to raise our gaze to Him, the only wise God and our soon-to-come King!  Hallelujah

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the privilege to redirect the attention away from ourselves and the powers of this world to Your Majesty and Righteousness.  Help us to gain the fear and reverence of Your Holiness that we will not neglect to Glorify You to the world as You require.  For we want Your desires to be ours and we want to pray as the Son, Father, let Your will be done-In Jesus’ Name-Amen!
