Mary Served Despite the Cost (Blessed Woman #1)

SCRIPTURE: "Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, 'Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!' 29 But [b]when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.' 34 Then Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I do not know a man?' 35 And the angel answered and said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.' 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her.'" Luke 1:26-38

"Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, 'Woman, behold your son!' 27 Then He said to the disciple, 'Behold your mother!' And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home." John 19:25-27
An exclusive woman was chosen by God for a purposeful assignment,
The impending birth of Jesus Christ needed a carrier as a divine requirement.

The Lord foresaw a woman who is courageous, loyal, and committed,
Mary was called with a cost that was divinely anticipated and permitted.

Her task was beyond understanding, with demands many would avoid,
Yet with boldness, Mary said, “Behold, the maidservant of the Lord!”

She accepted God’s plan through His Word as it relates to the impossible,
The favor upon her reflects faith and obedience inspired by God’s promises.

Yet the question today is, are there any courageous woman ready to answer their call?
One who is committed and loyal to the Lord and His Word, while willing to sacrifice it all.

Mary saw the bigger picture despite her pain, suffering, and loss,
Her choice and willingness to serve from the heart outweighed the cost.

The Lord’s plans cannot be trumped by the culture, elevation of self, or lack of love and service,
Mary chose God’s way because her son will be known as the Son, who died for those who are deserving.

Courageous women are willing to be an instrument God uses for His purposes,
Whether as a woman of God, wife, or mother, you are called to be His models and messengers.

When matters are challenging, demanding, hopeless, or discouraging,
Keep in mind the God you serve, and rely on His Word for encouragement.

Mary’s faithfulness and obedience impacted all of our lives,
Because of her courage, we can be inspired to spiritually thrive.

Finally, it’s our responsibility as representatives of Mary’s spiritual sons and daughters,
Honoring her role in our lives by actively valuing and adhering to biblical standards and order.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord, for the women You’ve anointed to fulfill Your purpose. In the matchless name of Jesus. Amen.
