My Growth, God’s Glory

SCRIPTURE: “To God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen” Romans 16:27
Jeremiah was challenging Judah that they would go through the fiery furnace of
affliction to remove the dross because of their sins. The prophet was emphasizing that
the tongues of God’s people that had dealt death and deceit was second nature to
them. Even when their conversation appeared to be cordial, their hearts were scheming
to ensnare their neighbors. However, certain relationships do not afford us a change in
environment, so we are constantly challenged to have the right attitude of heart where
we are.

The greatest pain can come from those who are unguarded in their thoughts, thereby,
speaking what is really in their hearts. Some of our greatest pain can come from things
said about us that eventually get back to us.

As a young believer, I was very sensitive to negative criticism, but the Lord had to
toughen me through the years if I was going to be used as an instrument of His grace
and especially with women. Even Joseph was discouraged and sold into slavery by his
brothers, exiled to Egypt and eventually put in prison on false accusations. He was
eventually elevated from prison to the palace in one day, yet it took 13 years for the
molding process. What was meant for evil, God used for His Glory.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for molding and teaching us through the furnace of relational
affliction how to respond correctly to negativism and discouraging comments for our
spiritual growth. You always work things for Your glory and our good.
