ARE WE MATURE YET? [PART II]

SCRIPTURE: "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me."  Philippians 3:12
I love Christian comedians because they’ve been gifted with the special ability to, in a clean way, “find the ‘funny’ in the human condition” and unite us in laughter [Proverbs 17:22], which brings us to a fifth manifestation of a spiritually mature mindset. It is found in those who refrain from taking themselves too seriously; (I’m still working on this one, folks)! Christ followers with an SMM, (i.e., a spiritually mature mindset), can laugh at their own weaknesses and mistakes, while seeking earnest repentance one day at a time, for they are resting in God’s grace and provision—“Lord, I need You; fill my cup!” They understand that a child of the King needn’t work for God’s APPROVAL. We serve the Lord BECAUSE we’ve been saved—not in order to GET or to REMAIN saved! [Ephesians 2:8, 9]

(6) They possess the humility to confess their mistakes—which greatly pleases the Lord. “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way [Psalm 25:9]. (7) They do not mind serving others through praying, encouraging, and discipling others in how to grow up in Christ. They’re prone to asking themselves “What is the most loving thing that I can do for another person?” (8) They understand that tomorrow is NOT promised to any of us, no matter our age; therefore, we purpose to live each day attentive to His will and guidance. [See Psalm 118:24]

Finally, the soul with a spiritually mature mindset deepens their faith by learning God’s Word in order to be DOERS of the same, rather than HEARERS only, thereby PROVING, as their life goes on, the trustworthiness of the Lord. Are we mature yet?? Let’s persevere in seeking to GET THERE!

PRAYER: Father God, You have told us that You are a sun and shield, that You will bestow glory and honor, and that no good thing will You withhold from the man or woman who walks uprightly, [Psalm 84:11]. Stir us up to continue to desire maturity in You. Thank You, in Christ’s precious name; amen.
