Oneness In the Body of Christ

SCRIPTURE:  “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who [a]will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. 24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. 25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” John 17:20-26
I’ve learned the most important people in my circle, above all, is the body of Christ,
Even above my family, they are the ones called to pray and intercede for the concerns in my life.

Jesus knew that we needed each other to sustain what He is constructing and building,
We are called to be His mouthpiece, representatives, and first responders for the Kingdom.

On the night before Christ crucifixion, He lifted an urgent and everlasting prayer,
He wanted to address Christians, present, for the future, rather than the nay sayers.

God did not create us to live independently of one another, but in oneness and unity,
He designed us to live through a loving, accountable, and mutually supportive community.

Believers claim to be one in Jesus Christ, which means we are liable for our sisters and brothers,
Yet we’ve allowed offenses, disagreements, unforgiveness, pride, gossip, and broken relationships to keep us separated from one another.

Our allegiance to one another is failing because we are committed to ourselves,
We have forgotten and dismissed the responsibility, we are saved to unite and help.

This community is not meant to just attend the same church, worship in the same building, or agree on every issue,
He called us into a spiritual family with a one another mindset for earthly benefits and heavenly residuals.

Clearly, the significance of this enduring oneness Jesus Himself prayed for,
A dynamic that reflects His relationship with His Father for the Body to soar.

The outcome is for the world to recognize that Jesus was sent by God,
The outcome is for believers to come together as one, while all are doing their part.

The purpose is not simply to increase church attendance or to create more social gatherings,
It’s to transform how believers actively live together to ensure ministry avoid empty mishandling.

We are in a day where isolation and division is normalized,
People merely existing around others without genuine community being recognized.

God's design for the body of Christ is to lead the way by practicing humility, vulnerability, spent time, and personal sacrifice,
Avoiding selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself the days of our lives.

The Lord gives believers different gifts, strengths, and resources so that they can serve one another,
Excessive self-sufficiency must change for the body of Christ to experience a healthy dependency with sisters and brothers.

Oneness must therefore reach beyond church membership, ministry affiliation, race, personality, or denominational preferences,
Our common identity in Christ is more foundational than all these listed categories, groups, and differences.

Our unity is rooted in our relationship with the Lord,
Our unity is a witness for others to see around the world,
Our unity is calling us to sacrifice to be on one accord,
Our unity is a right now mission that benefits men, women, boys, and girls.

As a reminder! Love is at the heart of oneness in the body as we endure,
Be encourage because oneness is something Christ intends to mature.

PRAYER: Lord! What’s important to You should be important to us as believers. Forgive us for failing with unity in the body. Give us an urgency and a burning desire to come together as one. Remove our self-sufficient ways, isolated mind sets, and hardened heart towards others. Renew in us a heart to do our part as believers. In the name of Jesus! Amen!
